din din is a supper club open to all—like a dinner party, but with strangers. We host din dins about once monthly in changing venues around Portland. Since our start in 2007, din din has taken place in a cooking school, art galleries, outdoor nurseries, and restaurants.
All are welcome—to receive invitations to din din, sign up for our mailing list!
Most often din din is a dinner of several courses and wine pairings, but we also host cocktail brunches and hors d’oeuvre mingles. We always enjoy conscientiously sourcing local ingredients which allows us to write harmonious menus.
What din din loves about food is its role in gathering us in celebration. We want to welcome you to a true occasion, which we endeavor to with a hosting style somewhere between elegant and tongue and cheek. Standout din dins have included “din mini,” a 23-course offering of miniature plates and beverages at a table of exaggerated proportions, and our annual Valentine’s Day “sexy din dins” where cooks in heels and pearls serve silky purées and liquor-laden sauces to guests being serenaded by a fiddler. At other din dins, servers have zipped from the kitchen to tables on skateboards and guests have challenged one another at Dolly Parton trivia. Some evenings, the simplicity of shellfish in a garden to the tune of live guitar is enough.
After a year of hosting monthly din dins, din din began offering catering services. din din Catering brings the fun and fluid spirit of our public dinners to private occasions. We’re honored to help reflect just how special your occasion is, whether you’re celebrating a large wedding or work party or simply the company of good friends. Read more about din din Catering here.
